Anthropic has reportedly walked away from talks to acquire Decart AI in a deal estimated at around $6bn, shelving plans to buy the California-based chip-efficiency and AI infrastructure start-up. Decart, backed by Nvidia, Benchmark, Adobe, Sequoia and Radical Ventures, recently raised $300m at nearly a $4bn valuation and develops systems to boost AI training, inference performance and real-time video and robotics simulations. The abandoned acquisition removes a potential path for easing Anthropic’s surging compute needs as it designs its own chips, manages massive cloud leases and prepares a closely watched IPO expected in mid-October.
This update represents a notable development in the Ai sector. Organizations and founders tracking this space should evaluate potential strategic and technical implications on their operations.
