Coinbase and payments platform Moov have partnered to deliver stablecoin infrastructure to more than 1,000 US community banks and credit unions, enabling stablecoin acceptance, settlement and real-time funding for participating institutions. The collaboration integrates Coinbase’s regulated digital asset infrastructure with Moov’s existing payments platform. Supported use cases include consumer payments, merchant settlement and payouts, while businesses and merchants can open Coinbase custodial accounts through their local banking partners. This initiative extends stablecoin capabilities beyond major banks currently piloting similar technologies, such as U.S. Bank’s recent cross-border stablecoin payment and an upcoming G7-bank-backed issuance venture, and increases competition with non-bank players like Western Union.
This update represents a notable development in the Crypto sector. Organizations and founders tracking this space should evaluate potential strategic and technical implications on their operations.
